Spectacular, Spectacular!: Tips on finding "you" frames

Happy Tip Tuesday! Tonight is a shoutout post to all my (spec)tacular four-eyed friends out there. I've been wearing glasses since the 1st grade, roughly 16 years, but have had the worst time finding glasses that fit my face shape. They're either too square, too circular, too large, too small--once I even tried  (failed) to rock pink cat eyes. Throughout college I settled for an average square tortoise frames, and although they did the trick,  my prescription was so outdated that I was constantly squinting trying to see where I was even walking.  I knew it was time to move on. This fall I set the goal to find a pair of glasses that would not only fit my look, but I wouldn't mind wearing with most outfits. Throughout the years glasses have moved from playground mockery to runway fashion--after all, they're the new statement necklace. Right?

This weekend I finally picked up the perfect pair of glasses that I have ever worn: Burberry BE2141. I'm so happy with the way they turned out. I actually feel comfortable wearing them, not to mention that I can see (huge bonus!) I love the extra definition they bring to my face by adding width at my cheekbones, and the slim arm's add a creative twist!

Five tips on finding 'you' frames:

1. Don't be caught up by brand names

2. Find a color that fits well with the clothing you wear (does not have to be brown or black!)

3. Fit your face shape
Rounded: Frames that are wider than deep, such as rectangular! These bring more definition                to  your eyes. Avoid circles!
Oval: Most frame shapes look pretty nice with oval faces! Just avoid anything that is too large            as they may take away from your beautiful  features.
Heart: You want to find frames that add more width to your cheeks, not your forehead. Square            or aviator shapes look great.
Square: Because your face is already angular and more defined, search for a shape that is                    more circular or oval. This will further bring out the angles in your face!

4.. Find your theme! There are retro, creative, modern, glamorous, classic, scholarly and more. With so many, do a little research before attending your eye doctor! It's great to have an idea of the look you're going for.

5. Try on angles at different angles. It's best to have a close-up mirror and a mirror that is farther away to see different viewpoint. I took a few shamelessly took a few selfies while trying mine on!

Updates: I was extremely excited to show off my Halloween costume  (goth girl), but unfortunately it actually snowed here in Michigan. Therefore any chance of a photoshoot flew out the window when it reached -32 degrees. Additionally, the launch of my Etsy shop has been so much fun and an amazing learning experience! I should have more listings and more transformation posts up this week. Life is so great sometimes.
